Richard Florida

Florida, Florida

« Mapping North America | Main | Hmmm ... »

Over at Marginal Revolution, Alex Tabarrock asks:

What is the probability of a family having two girls if one of the children is a girl named Florida?

Alex notes it's a rare first name. Florida Florida - has a certain "ring" to it:-)

What if you had two and named them both Florida Florida? I know twin brothers both named Johnnie (different middle initials). Back before ultrasound people often didn't know they were having twins, so the name of the second child had to be made up in the hospital.

Of course why use redundancy when you you could inflict Miami, Orlando, Everglades, Recount or any number of other things on the kid?

RF

Michael - I like the way you think - "Recount" has a nice ring to it:-)
